Why do you call it “Music Mentorship” instead of “Music Lessons”?

Great question! So many of the topics we cover in music are applicable in the rest of life! When I look back on my upbringing, so many of my biggest influences in life were my music instructors and musical role-models. As I went on through college and out into the freelance world of performing and educating, I realized just how much those people taught me about LIFE, not just music! The aim of my Music Mentorships is to encourage a more personalized approach to music education, as well as to attract the kinds of students who are seeking a musical mentor to help them through their transformative years so they can go out into the world and be top-call musicians with all the skills they need to be successful in life and in music. Music Mentees are self-driven and love their craft — I’m just here to help nudge you along and keep you from making the same mistakes I made when I was younger!

What is the commitment?

Music Mentorships are intended to be a long-form approach to study. This means that once admitted into my studio, students are expected to study with me year-round and usually on a weekly basis.

Due to the volume of inquires I get for my studio, Music Mentorships are a minimum 3-month commitment.

One-off lessons are available, but are priced a bit differently — please find those details HERE

What is the tuition?

Music Mentorships are priced differently per quarter-year commitment. The minimum mentorship commitment is 3 months, but the longer the contract you sign, the better the price! The options below are billed in full, or in 3-month OR 1-month increments.

3-Month music mentorship

12 mentor sessions (60 minutes)
$75 per session
Total Tuition: $900*

6-Month music mentorship

24 mentor sessions (60 minutes)
$70 per session
Total Tuition: $1680*

12-Month music mentorship

48 mentor sessions (60 minutes)
$65 per session
Total Tuition: $3120*

*please note, prices do not include applicable taxes*

Where do mentor sessions take place?

If you’re in the Denton/Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex areas, sessions will take place out of my home studio in North Denton.

If you’re not local to DFW, no sweat! I’ve taught many virtual students who have gotten just as much out of mentorships and lessons as in-person students! We can meet via Zoom or Skype, and timing is flexible in case you’re halfway around the world from me!

What makes your mentorships different
from a one-off lesson?

Music Mentorships are designed to be more immersive and all-encompassing. I’m available for all of my Mentees even when “off the clock” — this means you can ask questions anytime for guidance and practice suggestions between lessons, as well as send me recordings of your progress for feedback and tailoring your next lesson to your real-time progress. I encourage Mentees to collaborate and share their progress with each other, offering a chance to network with fellow young musicians. I also help Mentees record their video auditions (local to DFW/Denton — I have all of the equipment for high-end audio/video recording at my home studio), help students write their music resumes/curriculum vitae, and plan ahead for upcoming competition deadlines, etc. Remote students can expect me to help them find resources to get great recordings locally, and sometimes I can even arrange for my colleagues in those cities to play on their audition tapes!

One-off lessons are designed to show you new approaches, answer burning questions, and get inspired to practice by getting honest but productive feedback on your playing. It’s more of an information-dump than a personalized, step-by-step approach designed for long-term success.

If you want the best, all-inclusive education experience I have to offer, Music Mentorships are where to look!
